Holiday Gigs are Almost Here!

Wreath

We’re playing two holiday gigs over the next two weeks. First up on December 2nd is a return to the APL Winter Festival. We’ll be playing from 2-3 pm in the Dining Area stage. Stick around after lunch for some holiday tunes. Richard Boales will be subbing on alto sax, soprano sax, and clarinet.

On Tuesday December 12th, we’ll be playing two sets at Brookside Gardens “Garden of Lights” from 6-8:30pm. Come down to see the light display, and stop on by to hear some jazz and have some refreshments.

CEFJ, the Quintet

A little late reporting this, but with two gigs approaching, I thought it would be relevant. We’ve slimmed down to a quintet over the last several months. Eric, our tenor sax player, took an unspecified length sabbatical as he became too busy with the Parker Solar Probe. And Julius, our piano player, recently left APL for NRL. It was fun playing with you Julius, and we wish you good luck and happy trails in your future musical and career aspirations.

Fix It NOW!

We just uploaded a clean set of new mixes to the songs from last weekend’s gig (“Yes, Batman. It’s fixed now!”). The new mixes really bring the vocals out. You can check them out in the Music section.

Enjoy!

Thanks for a Great Gig!

smokin

We had a great gig on Saturday night. Thank you to the APL Scats for letting us share the stage with you. And thanks to all our fans, new and old, for coming out to hear us play. We’re still editing down the recordings, but the beginning of Set 2 was SMOKIN’! For those that missed it, check out the new recordings posted to the Music section. And for those that were there, something to remember the concert by!

Warm hearted thanks again! Let’s do this again sometime!

Reminder: CEFJ+Scats Concert

Elephant

Just a reminder that we’ll be playing with the APL Scats in a concert at APL next Saturday night, July 29, in Parsons Auditorium starting at 7:30pm. You won’t want to miss this one! We’ll be backing the Scats on five songs, plus opening the second set with three “Post-Modern Bop” tunes from Dexter Gordon, Lee Morgan, and Horace Silver. Stay afterwards for light refreshments and a chance to talk with the performers. Hope to see you there!

[Note our Gigs Calendar had us listed at APL Family Visit Day on August 2, but that gig fell through. We’re playing the weekend before Family Visit Day with the Scats. Sorry for the confusion.]

2017 Gig Annoucements

We have three (count ’em three) upcoming corporate-style gigs at APL on the calendar all ready this year. We’ll be playing next month at the Support Staff Luncheon, at the APL Family Visit Day in August, and at the APL Winter Reception in December. We’ll post more information on each gig as they get closer.

Some Music for the Holidays

Wreath

We had a blast playing the APL Winter Reception again this year. To get you in the holiday spirit, we uploaded some of the high points from the set, including “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”, “What Child Is This?”, and “Christmas Time Is Here.” Check them out at the end of the music playlist. Enjoy!

New Gig Day!

Wreath

We’ll be returning to the APL Winter Reception this year to play a set of holiday jazz tunes. New tunes will include “What Child Is This?,” “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm,” “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?,” “A Marshmallow World,” and “My Favorite Things.” Plus we’ll play some “hits” from last year’s festival. Come on out for some great food and entertainment. We’ll be playing on the main stage in the upper dining area starting at 2:00pm.
